Looking for examples of great digital journalism

Google is organizing a day-long journalism conference in the Bay Area in March. They’re looking for local journalists to participate in three areas:

  • How local news organizations are harnessing the power of the internet to do better journalism
  • How newsrooms are using digital tools to collaborate
  • Case studies of journalism projects using digital tools
Examples of case studies presented at similar conferences held in other cities include the South Florida Sun Sentinel’s Pulitzer-winning investigation “Above the Law: Speeding Cops”, which broke new ground in database journalism, and WBEZ’s Curious City project which allows listeners to post questions to be investigated by the station’s reporters.

Do you have any suggestions? Who’s doing great work should we hear from? Please send us your recommendations: spjnorcal [at] gmail [dot] com (We’ll be forwarding them on to the conference organizers.)
